I use SDL Trados Studio 2014 Freelance on a Macbook Air via Parallels.
I recently copied my files onto iCloud Drive due to lack of space. I got an error message saying I had too many files to do this, but the files were transferred to iCloud Drive anyway, however no copies were left on my Mac. I subsequently installed a larger hard disk and used a Time Machine backup to recover my files.
I'm now having constant problems using Studio. The latest one is the above.
Any help much appreciated.

When I were you, I would remove all language pairs from the settings, all projects from the projects view and adapt the project templates. Then I would either start new projects or activate old one by double clicking the *.sdlproj file. However, all unnecessary - means ready, finished - projects should not be present in the list anymore. Otherwise the list is too long and gets damaged more often.
To have the program running smoothly, it is also mandatory to copy all term bases and translation memories to exactly the same path as they were before.

Well, from my perspective it's you who screwed up, since it should be you who should know how things work and what exactly you are doing (but again, today's computer/software producers and especially in the Apple world are trying to do the exact opposite and convince users that everything "just magically works" with a single click...).
For example, I would personally never believe that Mac backup program (i.e. designed to backup and restore the Mac native environment) would somehow magically restore content of Windows virtual machines...
I'm afraid none of us can really answer your questions since we don't know how exactly were/are your files organized (where did you have your projects, TMs, termbases, etc. stored, how were the paths organized and how were these linked together and/or to the projects, etc.).
This is all your own responsibility.
