Optional Hyphens show as a normal hyphen

Hello,

I am using Trados 2017 and I am using optional/soft hyphens.

Unfortunately the optional hyphen, the nonbreaking hyphen and the normal hyphen look exactly the same in my editor window.

They act differently as when I search for any one of them I only get that one. But I would like to see the differences in the text that I'm typing.

Any solution?

Regards, Heleen

  • Dear Paul,
    Thank you for answering.
I'm using the QuickInsert Menu. On that menu itself they do look very different. But they appear in the target part of the segment of the editor window just as a hyphen.
I have also inserted them with the actual Alt+0173, etc. combinations.
They still look all the same (a hyphen).
An optional hyphen does work properly when it gets exported and used in other applications. But in my Trados editor window it looks all like a hyphen.
One point is that I do have the error "The action with ID 'QuickTagListButton' is currently not enabled" when I try to open the full QucikInsert menu.
