Hello,
I've updated InDesign to the newest version (CC 2019) and now have some project which have to be translated.
Trados Studio 2019 can't handle the new IDML-Files. I'm getting the error: 
Does any one know, how can I fix this?

I've checked the project template beforehand, so that's not the problem.
I asked the client to send me a new version in case it is a problem with the file.

I have the same problem. You suggest checking unsupported versions before creating one's project. But where does one find the unsupported versions listed? Basically all file versions as already checked, including CS4 idm, but I find nowhere to check the unsupported CS5 idm version. I would therefore appreciate if you could give a more specific instruction.
It seems I found the "Unsupported version" option after all when clicking on the IDML filter during the creation of the project. Only problem is that the idml files still are imported as reference files and not translatable files.

Hi Roy,
Is this the option you tried? You would need to select it before processing the files for it to take effect.

Thanks for your answer. Yes, the option was checked, but I found that the problem seems to have been related to Windows and not Studio, since I found I could import the idml files fine on a different machine I had.
Now I've reinstalled Windows on the machine I normally work on, but I have problems installing Studio for some reason. I am not able to install Studio, but get the message "Microsoft .NET framework 4.7.1 cannot be installed", which blocks the installation of the whole Studio package. The error number is 5100.
There is something that you may have forgotten. Once you have ticked the "Process unsupported options" option, first checkbox under General, under InDesign, you first have to exit Trados Studio 2019 and restart it before you create the new project for that checked option to be active. I can here confirm that I have used it with SDL Trados Studio 2019 and it worked wonderfully even with the latest Adobe InDesign 2021 IDML file (17.0 (96).

After reading through all the replies, trying multiple times and suffering much frustration, I found the following video that shows a slightly different approach for getting Trados to work with unsupported Idml files.
