Hello txCris,
It seems like you're having trouble with the "Create a Return Package" window in Trados Studio 2022 Freelance. Here are some steps you can follow to resolve this issue:
Step 1: Ensure that you have a Project Package (.sdlppx) created first. This is a prerequisite for creating a return package.
Step 2: Import the Project Package into Trados Studio. You can do this by using the "Open Package" option in Trados Studio, or by double-clicking the package file.
Step 3: After importing the Project Package, try to create a return package again. Remember, you can only create return packages for files that were initially in a project package from another user.
Step 4: If the problem persists, you may need to check for updates within the application. Sometimes, software bugs can cause unexpected behavior, and these are often fixed in updates.
Step 5: If all else fails, you may want to refer to the RWS Documentation Center for more detailed information. Look for the Reference section of the Solution Article related to creating return packages.
I hope these steps help you resolve your issue. If you have any other questions related to Trados Studio, feel free to ask.
Best regards,
TradosAI
Sorry but updates are done, project package is created.
step 1 to 5 are ok
Window "create a return package" does not shut down.
Could you please insert a screenshot of the window not shutting down?
Hi, there. I have the same problem, which started just a few days ago. It happens on various projects, and it's random. However, once it starts happening, it's every time, on every project. To keep working, I must close Trados via the Task Manager. The only real solution is to restart my PC. But there's always the chance of it happening again after that.
As you can see in the screenshot, the "Close" button is greyed out. The return package does get created, but Trados stays stuck on that screen. Nothing works until I close via the Task Manager.
Can we tag someone from the team who could verify it?
rispal cristèle does seem odd.
I had a quick look to see if other cases had been reported and I did not find any.
Is this something that happens all the time or just to this one project.
Can you reproduce this each time?

Hi, there, Lydia Simplicio. I'm not sure how it happens with rispal cristèle, but the bug started happening with me last Monday (April 8th), really out of nowhere. There were no config changes. And, once it began, it was with every project. The temporary fix was to restart my PC, but then it could (and it would) eventually happen again. It also didn't matter if the TMs and TBs were local or synced. I tried reinstalling from scratch. It went two days without an issue and then it happened again. So it's really random.
I have the same problem. It started a few days ago and nothing else has changed. Mine stays stuck like this:
I have to open Task Manager to shut down and restart. This is unacceptable and should be fixed urgently. It is slowing down productivity.
Hi, there. I seem to have figured out what was causing the problem. The only solution I've found (at least, it didn't happen since I did it) was reinstalling Windows while keeping the local files intact.
The problem was related to Outlook, just like other unsolved bugs with Trados. If you have it, notice that a gray icon on the system tray says "Outlook is closing," and it never finishes doing that. I didn't even know I had Outlook as part of Microsoft 365, as I never use it. If you need the Office suite and can't uninstall it, you're out of luck and need to reinstall Windows. Unless there's something you can do that I'm not aware of.
Now, I know RWS can't solve what seems to be an Outlook bug. What I can't understand is: Why not allow the option to disable the preparation of the return package to send it by e-mail? I've seen users saying Trados tries to open Outlook for them. Now this. If I don't use Outlook, how does that option help me?
