Problem with comment font size

I have installed the latest update of Studio 2024.

Now, the font size of the comments pane is extremely large:

Screenshot of Trados Studio 2024 showing a comments pane with large font size. Comments include '???' and '!!!v. nem kioldodo?'. The document name is visible in the pane.

I cannot change the font size of comments only. (It can be changed using Font adaptation, but it also changes the font size of the Translation results window.)

The related help page (https://docs.rws.com/en-US/tradosstudio-sr-1187677/adaptable-font-size-for-comments-1230668) refers to some "Font Size" group, which doesn't exist.

    Hi Sandor,

The enlarged font in the comments pane was implemented with this latest update of Studio because it had been requested for some considerable time by many users, so the developers listened and made it so.

It has never been possible to change just the font size of individual panes in Trados Studio, apart from the Editor window, so some users were finding it difficult to read the comments pane.

You can indeed reduce the size via Font Adaptation but as you say it changes the size of the Editor window (not the Translation results). In theory, they could thus be the same size font but the comments pane font does look a little larger than the Editor window font, I must agree.

Maybe in a future update, this will be improved. You could add this suggestion to the ideas page (see the second link below).

    All the best,

  • Well, this "enhancement' is a failure. It should have been tested before the release.

By the way, besides the font size of the Translation Result Window, the Fragment Matches Window and the Concordance Search Window can also be customised.

(I'm usually afraid of Trados updates. Something always goes wrong.)

    Hi again Sandor,

This change has been requested for a long time, see the most recent discussion on it here:
    Font size for comments

Once the requested changes and improvements had been mad, we tested everything thoroughly before release, I was part of the beta users' group who tested every aspect of Studio and MultiTerm. We made recommendations for improvement and reported faults until after the 7th beta version, we were happy with the progress made. It's exceedingly difficult to implement every change requested as some are impossible or trigger issues elsewhere, but the development team do their best and they do an excellent job IMHO.

Nobody reported this as an issue. I certainly don't see it as a problem to be able to read comments more easily.

Your setup must be different to mine because I cannot change the font size of the Translation Results pane via Font Adaptation and I don't t often use Fragment matching so that pane is closed.

It would be better if someone from the support team who knows more about fonts than I do looked at this for you.

Though, could you first explain why having comments set to the same size as the Editor pane is a problem for you?

     All the best,
