[NEW] - new functionality [ADD] - smaller additions [IMPROVE] - changed functionality [FIX] - bug fixes - bug fixes
This release provides for three versions:
- Trados Business Manager Essential
- Trados Business Manager Team
- Trados Business Manager Enterprise
The new Essential version is a desktop application designed to bring back the old BaccS functionality for Freelance Translators. The Team and Enterprise versions are upgrades to the Team and Online versions that were available for version 5 respectively. For more information please visit the Trados Business Manager information pages on the Trados website.
You can read blog post here to read about new functionality in detail.
[NEW] Completely new platform with a new UI, 64-bit architecture and improved performance. Both the Online and Desktop versions are now the same browser-based applications.
[NEW] Completely new file manager. Files are now stored on your hard drive instead of within the database, implemented support for file versions, improved cloud drive integration and made file uploading easier.
[NEW] Multitenancy, we can now allow the Enterprise edition only to support multiple databases (users) within a single application.
[NEW] New view customization approach. List views, data entry forms and dashboards can now be customized in a centralized way. Custom views can be assigned by admins to any users or roles, which allows you to easily deliver customized layouts to other users. In the previous version, it was difficult to achieve. In addition, it is now possible to provide different views to new documents and existing documents (for example, quote creation form for clients can have a different layout compared to the form used to view previously created quotes).
[NEW] Fully overhauled vendor and client portals - more functional UI, easier file uploads, etc.
[NEW] New Trados Studio integration, this provides support between Trados Studio running on a local user computer and Trados Business Manager running on a server.
[NEW] Language Cloud integration (currently only supports project creation, analysis downloading, progress tracking). This is an ongoing process and will be regularly updated as the API for Language Cloud continues to develop.
[NEW] New instant notifications are delivered within a second to users, which improves user experience. For example, if client creates a quote request, or a vendor accepts a job offer, you will immediately receive a notification about this.
[NEW] New visual filter builder in the list views.
[NEW] Overhauled audit trail, which now presents information about changes in a much more user-friendly way.
[NEW] Excel export function and database export function now supports custom fields. This means that exported information can include data from custom fields (which will be processed during data importing as well).
[NEW] New scheduler with different views, timelines and event grouping by clients.
[NEW] Possibility to limit the IP-addresses allowed to access the application.
[NEW] Languages and language pairs can now be optionally displayed as flags.
[NEW] Live filters in lists of jobs, projects and assignments (provided in a side panel similar to an online store)
[NEW] Improved tabbed UI.
[NEW] Implement new report to analyze vendor performance according to work time
[IMPROVE] Units - added language dependency
[IMPROVE] Improved Workload planner.
[IMPROVE] Improvements in the security configuration screens (improved usability and accessibility of elements).
[IMPROVE] "Charge-free" customers, supports the hiding of prices and amounts from the job editing form (useful for corporates)
[IMPROVE] Renamed Customers to Clients ('client' term could include both 'customers' and 'internal departments')
[IMPROVE] Vendors: new table for inputting multiple native languages and services, which supports the specification of services provided by vendors that was previously determined through information in price-lists.
[IMPROVE] Added the possibility to calculate vendor costs based on work time using an hourly rate rather than quantities and units
[IMPROVE] Added the possibility to calculate vendor job costs as a percentage of the amount of source tasks
[IMPROVE] New vendor business report
[IMPROVE] Notifications - It is now possible to select vendors or clients you wish to receive notifications for.
[IMPROVE] Implemented notifications to the responsible person who has been assigned that role when another user creates projects or jobs.
[IMPROVE] Hundreds of small improvements throughout the whole application, which are difficult to separately identify here, but should be noticeable while working with the application.
[FIX] Fixed the download sources for currency rates
Breaking change
Desktop application now uses different database engine - SQLite, instead of SQL Server CE. This requires to convert database from previous version, which is described in this article.
