Is this just because you are not showing the formatting in the editor?  Go to File -> Options -> Editor and look at the options for displaying tags in the editor while working:

Je reçois des packages tous les jours du même client. La plupart du temps, si je veux regarder le résultat de la traduction en Word (j'aime bien vérifier avec le correcteur de Word), je vais dans : Fichier -> Imprimer et afficher -> Affichage dans -> Aperçu avant impression au format cible.

Mais parfois, quand je reçois certains packages, il m'est impossible d'exporter mon texte en Word. Dans ces cas-là, le formatage dans l'onglet accueil est visible mais impossible de m'en servir. 

Je me doute bien que le "problème" vient du fichier du client mais je me demandais s'il y avait une possibilité de le contourner et de "forcer" Studio a exporter quand même mon texte en WOrd et à afficher quand même le formatage.

Gaelle, I'm sorry I didn't see your answer 'docx' until I'd written and sent my reply. I just wanted to be sure that it really is a Word document that you have there. 

Have you tried 'Fichier > Enregistrer la cible sous' ? This gives you the opportunity to save your Target back to its original format.

I do not understand French, but I suppose "Fichier > Enregistrer la cible sous" means Save target as - which is indeed the best and simplest solution.

Je suis loin d'être un expert du niveau de ceux qui t'ont déjà conseillée, mais, si le fichier source est *.doc ou *.docx ou *.docx.sdlxliff, pourquoi ne pas utiliser tout simplement Fichier/Enregistrer la cible sous ?

Est-ce que j'enfonce une porte ouverte ou bien cela peut-il résoudre ton problème ?

Si le client utilise un autre type de fichier, on ne peut malheureusement pas enregistrer le fichier cible. Ce problème se présente surtout si le client et le traducteur ne travaillent pas avec la même version de Studio.

Cela dépend de ce qu'est le format du fichier. Si par exemple il s'agît d'un fichier .txt il n'y aura pas de problème car tous les PCs ont l'application Notepad. C'est cela qui fait la différence - il faut avoir le logiciel nécessaire à créer et à ouvrir le format de fichier d'origine.

Alors si tu as un idml.sdlxliff, et tu as la version de InDesign dans laquelle le fichier d'origine aurait été crée, tu pourras le sauvegarder jusqu'au format .idml, etcetera.

La même chose s'applique quand il s'agît d'utiliser l'outil Aperçu pour ouvrir un fenêtre aperçu dans la fenêtre éditeur.

Alors, Gaelle Bordet, as-tu essayé Fichier>Enregistrer la cible sous ?

It depends on the file format. If, for example you're working on a .txt based translation, you won't have a problem because all PCs have Notepad. That is what makes the difference - you need to have the necessary software installed that can create and open the original file format.

So, if you have an .idml.sdlxliff and you have the correct version of InDesign that the file was created in, you can save the file back to .idml and so forth.

The same applies when using the Preview tool to open a Preview window in the Editor View.

So, Gaelle, have you tried File>Save Target as??

Hi Ali,

The problem is that if the file type is not available in your Studio version and if you are working on a package, you won't be able to save the target if exactly that file type has been used. Even if you have the software to open the target file. And as far as I have seen the "old" Word file type (Word 2007 v 2.0.0.0) is no longer available in Studio 2019 SR2. So the only workaround I would see in this case is to use an older Studio version (if such a version is still installed on the computer), for example Studio 2017. Then you might be able to use that version to save the target file.

Ah... According to Gaelle's message, 'WordprocessingML V. 2' is the filetype definition that the software is failing to find.

BUT... 'WordprocessingML V. 2' IS the ID for the MS Word 2007-2016 filetype that IS available in Studio 2019, as here, via File>Options:

Peut-être ce n'est que la différence entre versions de fichiers Word qu'ils t'envoient. En Studio, les versions ne sont que deux, mais cela veut dire qu'ils ont simplifié jusqu'à deux versions, celles avec l'extension .doc ou .dot puis celles avec .docx et cetera...

In English, it would appear that it is indeed a Word document and the file identifier in question is correct for Studio 2019 but maybe the project settings are misleading the software and clarification is required by only selecting the filetype that covers the Word version indicated in the error message...
