Disable a segmentation rule

Good morning,


When translating an html file, we're facing an issue with Trados Studio since it segments the bold parts that are between the tags <strong> and </strong>. Here is an example:

This has also happened previously with bold letters in the middle of a sentence or even in words. We don't have any segmentation rule in our memory that tells Trados to segment whenever a "</strong>" appears, so we can't delete it. How can we tell Trados to not segment whenever this tag appears?

    This renders as you explained like this:

    Now, I don't see any examples in here that look anything like your original problem. The strong tag isn't even in here.  I don't really know what I'm supposed to be achieving for you here.  Can you explain based on this example you provided?

    Hi!

    In my 125 to 130 segments, the text is different. Here is a screenshot:

    In this html file, this segmentation issue affects mostly to "Robe", "Nez" and "Bouche", but also other words. These are the ones that have most repetitions.

    ok - with the TM you provided and the full file I see this:

    You must have some segmentation on your parser rules.  Your TM br rule is not doing anything because it's a tag.  If I don't use a TM at all I see this:

    So, can you share your filetype settings?

    Mine is greyed because they are default.  If your is not greyed then you have made some changes there and this may be having some impact.  If they are greyed then can you tell us what version of the software you are working with?

    We are currently using in my team Trados 2021. We have a custom filetype settings file:

    These are the parser settings for this custom filetype:

    We have the default HTML 5 filetype with the default settings and on a lower place so that the "brand new" filetype settings come first. If I go to the Parser settings of HTML 5, there is a rule for "strong" with tag type "Inline". Could this be the rule that is segmenting the "strong" tags?

    My defaults give me this:

    Using your rules gets me this:

    So we seem to be on the same page now at least!

    To fix it I just added a rule for strong to your rules and made it inline.  Because you excluded a rule for strong it inherited the structure for html.

    Hi!

    I added the "strong" rule as inline and translatable and now I get the same segmentation as your last screenshot:
