The ApplyTmTemplate plugin's primary purpose is to apply a template to many TMs at once but it can also:
- export the resources from the template to an excel document,
- to import language resources from an Excel document to a template or
- to import language resources from a TM to a template.
You can find this plugin in the Add-Ins ribbon tab.
After you start the plugin, you have to choose a template by clicking on the black arrow and then on "Choose a template". A warning message will be displayed when any other action from this popup menu is chosen before choosing a template.
After a template has been chosen you can choose one of the four possible actions (Apply, Export, Import from excel or from SDLTMs).
- If you want to Apply the template on a bunch of TMs:
- You have to first add some TMs either by dragging and dropping, adding them file by file clicking or adding a folder of them by clicking
- After you've added the TMs you can select which TMs to be used by clicking in their corresponding checkboxes (the same goes for removing them, check them and then click )
- Once you're finished selecting the TMs, you can click on "Apply" to add the resources from the template to the TMs (in the example, all TMs have been selected).
- `
- As you can see in the picture above a check mark or an error mark is displayed which indicates if the template could or couldn't be applied and to which of the TMs languages. Hovering over the marks will display more status info.
- If you want to export the language resources from the template to an excel document:
- Click on the "Export" button
- In case there are languages in the template which cannot be identified, a message will be displayed informing the user of all the languages that were and weren't identified (this applies to every other action in the case there are languages that cannot be identified)
- After the export is complete, a message will be displayed and the excel file will be automatically opened after the user clicks on "ok"
- If you want to Import from an excel document
- Click "Import from Excel to template"
- ,
- select an excel document which contains resources previously exported and wait for the completion message to be displayed.
