SDL BeGlobal (NMT) is SDL's state-of-the-art secure machine translation cloud product for enterprises with various paid subscription models.
How the plugin works
After the plugin was installed you can access it in Studio if you go on your Project Settings -> Language Pairs->Translation Memory and Automated Translation ->Click on Use button to expand the options:
Authentication
- If you are already logged in Studio when you select the translation provider you'll automatically see the provider options window.
- If you are not logged in Studio when you try to add the translation provider Studio login window will appear, where you'll add your SDL Credentials.
Provider settings
- Re-send draft and translated segments
By default this option is unchecked. If you want to make a call to BeGlobal service even if the status of the segment is Translated please check the box from Settings.
In Studio if the status of the segment is Different form "Not Translated" the Translation Provider will not make another request to the BeGlobal service and you won't be charged.
2. Engine model
The engine model drop down allows you to select the engine model you want to use. If the engine model is not selected explicitly we'll use first model available in list.
*Engines list will be filled with the models available for your subscription.
How to troubleshoot the translation provider
In the provider we have a error logging mechanism. A log file is created at the following path:
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\BeGlobalLogs
If some error is catched in the application a .txt file will be created which will contains details about the problem.
How to monitor the calls made by the provider
In the following example we'll use Fiddler (by Telerik) desktop app. Please read following wiki on how to install and configure Fiddler.
In order to filter the calls made by the provider you can search using CTRL+F and search for: "sdlbeglobal". All the calls will be highlited with yellow.
In the result column you'll see the status code associated with each request. What does they mean?
- 200 /202 the call was made with success
- 401 unauthorized (this mean the credentias / token is not valid or expired
- 500 internal server error
Example of success translation
In the response area, "Raw" tab you can see the response from the server which contains details about source and target language, and the translation sent in xliff format.
